Prostate Cancer Ribbon

20151028_134818

10/28/15.  Still experimenting with my horse hair cancer ribbon inventions.  Just finished this one for a man who survived prostate surgery reducing his PSA level to 0.01.  (To each man reading this, a simple prostate check might save your life. Please get one if you haven’t already.)  He wanted a “mannish” ribbon — a 12-ply braid with no loose horse hair or bows.  I cut the loops off the end caps and smoothed down the remaining nubs with my metal fingernail file.  I made a “god’s eye” to fasten the braid crossing together and sewed a light blue bead (another Nature Bead I earned as a Camp Fire Girl) on top.  Light blue is the color for prostate cancer.
